Fast Ethernet Converters
Canary, an innovative networking hardware manufacturer since 1987, is pleased to announce the release of two new Fast Ethernet media converters. These units convert 100Base-FX to 100Base-TX and vice versa, simply plug-in the cables. Like all Canary converters, the units convert media without adding delay to the network. Consequently they do not impact the repeater budget of Fast Ethernet. By making optimal use of state-of-the-art integrated circuits and surface-mount technology, Canary has produced these exceptionally affordable and reliable converters.
Conversion Solution
100Base-TX users are finding that the limitations inherent in operating solely on twisted pair cabling could, in many instances, be solved through the use of fiber optic cabling. The CFT-2061 and CFT-2062 converters were designed to simply and easily address and solve just such a problem.
Optional Fiber Optic Connectors
The CFT-2061 is a two port converter with a RJ-45 100Base-TX port on one side and a SC-type fiber optic 100Base-FX connector on the other side. The CFT-2062 is essentially the same device except that the fiber optic connector is the ST-type.
TX and FX Transmission Ranges
Both the CFT-2061 and CFT-2062 converters support a 100BaseTX transmission range up to 100 meters over Category 5 unshielded twisted pair cable. Both SC-type and ST-type fiber optic converters support a transmission range of 2km (full duplex) and 412m (half duplex) over multi-mode, duplex 50/125, 62.5/125 and 100/140 fiber optic cable.
Half or Full Duplex Operation
The converters both support auto-negotiated half or full duplex operation.
Simple Installation
Because Canary has designed a different converter for each fiber
optic connector type, the user can make use of their existing cabling scheme. Simply install the right converter to make use of the legacy LANs fiber cabling.
