The Fast EtherTX- 10/100 cards are the only Macintosh Fast Ethernet adapters based on the high-performance Parallel Tasking 10/100 Ethernet technology from 3Com, the leader in Ethernet networking. This dual- speed 10/100 adapter features a single auto- sensing RJ-45 connector, which means it can be installed on 1OBase-T or 100Base-TX networks. That flexibility offers the most affordable method on the market to migrate to faster networking speeds.The Fast EtherTX-10/100 is available as a Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) card for Power Macintosh and as a NuBus card for Power Macintosh, Quadra, and Macintosh II.

The Fast EtherTX-10/100 cards provide true plug-and-play installation. With Farallon's Fast Ethernet drivers loaded onto an on-board boot ROM, no disk or software installation is required. Simply plug the card into the Mac, connect it to your hub, and you're networked. The Fast EtherTX- I 0/1 00 for PCI supports Apple's new Open Transport standard for fast throughput and compatibility with standard Apple software. And you can use the Fast EtherTX-10/100 PCI card in your PCI based PCs using standard 3Com drivers, available separately.

With support for Apple's EtherTalk and popular network software such as MacTCP, MaclPX, MacSNMP, and AppleShare, you can continue to use your existing networked applications.

Compatibility

Farallon's Fast Ethernet products are designed in accordance with the 100Base-T specification established by the IEEE 802.3 standards committee. 100Base-TX products run on 2 pairs Category 5 unshielded twisted-pair cable, so they work with your existing 10Base-T UTP wire. 100Base-T has broad support from over 70 leading networking, chip and hardware manufacturers participating in the Fast Ethernet Alliance, so you can be assured of compatibility with other Fast Ethernet products.
