access for security-sensitive applications
GrandJunction"s FastSwitch' 2100 is the next generation Ethernet switch
for high-performance client-server workgroups. With 25 switched Ethernet ports
for individual workstations and existing 1OBase-T hubs, and two 10OBase-TX
ports for server and backbone connectivity, the FastSwitch 2100 is an affordable,
high-performance alternative to 1OBase-T hubs.
PERFORMANCE
The FastSwitch 2100 uses Grand'm-designed ASICs and a 1 gigabit per second
internal bus to deliver an aggregate forwarding bandwidth of up 320 Mbps,
over 30 times that of a 1OBase-T hub. A shared memory architecture with
3 MB packet buffer virtually eliminates packet loss and maximizes performance,
especially for packet windowing protocols. CollisionFree full-duplex operation
on the 10OBase-TX ports provides simultaneous data transmission in both
directions, eliminating collisions and providing up to 200 Mbps bandwidth
for servers and switch-to-switch connections.
CONFIGURATION FLEXIBILITY
The FastSwitch 2100's support for multiple NIAC addresses gives users the
flexibility to connect a single workstation or 1OBase-T hubs, easing the migration
path from today's shared-media LANs to next-generation private Ethernet
networks. hi addition, the FastSwitch 2100 has two fixed 10OBase-TX ports
for configuration flexibility. For example, one port can be used for a 10OBase-T
backbone uplink, and the other for a local server, redundant backbone connection,
network analyzer or RMON probe, or for daisychaining to another FastSwitch.
THE FASTLINK PRODUCT LINE
FastSwitch 2100 is part of Grand junction's FastLink product line which
includes a full range of high-performance Ethernet switches and 10OBase-T
repeater and adapter products.
