NH 215 & NH 208 MegaSwitch

Six 10Mbps AUI/RJ45 ports (NH208) & Seven RJ45 ports (NH215)

Each 10 Mbps port supports an Ethernet segment with up to 4096 nodes with zero standard latency. AUI interface allows Coax and Fiber Optic connections through appropriate transceivers. All transceivers are offered by NBase Switch including the only available Full Duplex Fiber Optic transceiver.

Full Duplex 20 Mbps configurable per port

Up to 2OMbps point to point connection over standard Ethernet cabling can be achieved with Full Duplex adapter cards for supporting high end workstations and applications. Full Duplex eliminates the distance limitation, enabling transmission distances up to 50 Km and beyond over Fiber.

Parallel store and forward architecture with direct port-to-port transfer

Shared memory architecture leads to packets being delayed unnecessarily while waiting for previous packets to be transmitted. The direct port-to-port transfer eliminates such delays by allowing data transfer from input port directly to the output port/s.

Complete runt and CRC filtering

Full error checking for greater reliability.

500,000 Packets per second filtering and forwarding rate with no overhead delay

Proprietary hardware enables the switch to handle full wire speed reception on all ports simultaneously, including Broadcast and Multicast frames destined to more than one output port.

Two 'High Speed Network Interface' slots for 100 Base-TX and other high speed networks such as ATM

10OBase-TX plug in module allows a high bandwith connection to other switches, high speed backbones or a high performance server. Plug-in modules for other high speed interfaces, such as ATM, wiII be offered.

No 'Time-Outs' with Selective Smart Flow Control

Unique Selective Smart Flow Control prevents lost packets due to buffer overload, thus improving performance. This feature is critical for sliding window NOSs such as TCP/IP and Novell 4.2.

Powerful custom filtering provides security and Virtual LAN capabilities

Custom filtering enables creation of "Virtual Networks" and allows the network manager to increase the security of the network by preventing users from accessing specific ports. Any filter can be defined based on multicast / broadcast, source port, destination port and destination address.

SNMP and Spanning Tree support

Support for HP OpenView or any NMS. Spanning tree allows creation of redundant paths and eliminates network loops.

Downloadable software

Flash memory enables field upgrades for future firmware releases and non-volatile storage of switch configuration.
