CPA1600 Series Router

The CPA1600 Series of Internet/Intranet access routers combines all the benefits of multiprotocol routing and transparent bridging with unmatched performance, configuration flexibility, affordability, and integrated security and management. Providing cost-effective LAN to WAN connectivity, the CPA1600 series extends the reach of network services to local and remote sites, and provides access to businesses resources on the World Wide Web.

The CPA1600 series features a flexible choice of built-in LAN and WAN ports and supports an extra WAN card for handling growth and emerging WAN technologies of the future. There are four different models to choose from:

All these models have the extra WAN card slot, with which you can add another serial or ISDN WAN interface.

The CPA1600 Series is easy to install and configure using the integrated Web browser-based ClickStart setup tool. Additionally, the AutoInstall feature allows future software upgrades and configuration changes to be downloaded over Frame Relay or across leased lines from one central location.

Once up and running, the CPA1600 Series provides reliable, high-performance multiprotocol routing for IP, IPX, and Appletalk, and transparent bridging for all other protocols.

Cisco 3600 Series

Cisco Systems 3600 Series of modular access routers combines all the benefits of integrated LAN-to-LAN and user-to-LAN internetworking with unmatched routing performance, configuration flexibility, and Cisco quality and service. The high performance and modularity of the Cisco 3600 Series solution allows companies to take advantage of current emerging WAN technologies and network capabilities. The Cisco 3600 Series is fully supported by the integrated Cisco IOS software, which offers dial-up connectivity, LAN-to-LAN routing, data and access security, WAN optimization and multimedia features.

Both Cisco 3600 Series routers provide a choice of connection densities and system performance. The Cisco 3640 has four network module slots, while the Cisco 3620 is equipped with two. Each slot accepts a variety of mixed-media network modules for Ethernet and Token Ring as well as a wide range of WAN interface cards. The Cisco 3600 Series highest density network modules also support a combination of Ethernet, Token Ring, asynchronous and synchronous serial, ISDN BRI, and channelized T1/ISDN Primary Rate Interface, making it easy and affordable to increase WAN densities, adopt emerging technologies, and deliver added value to the network infrastructure. The network modules and WAN interface cards provide true integrated LAN and WAN connectivity within a single platform. Also, the WAN modules are interchangable with the CPA1600 Series.
